About

Metamorphosing was developed in Central Saint Martins for the final projet of the MA Performance Design and Practice course.  This course brings together fine artists, directors, writers, researchers and designers to set the agendas that will drive performance practice in the 21st century

"Unlike the caterpillar, we remember, we can’t help but look back at the creature we used to be and regret of what we might have lost. This for us is the great irony at the heart of metamorphosis, the same part that realizes the metamorphosis, our mind, is the same part that fears it the most. We are one creature that can changethe definition of life. We can become anything. Here we are the mostchangeable creatures and we are so troubled about it, but maybe that’swhat being human is all about.”

Metamorphosis, The Science of Change (BBC)

Metamorphosing is a performance about adapting to physical change, caused by natural, traumatic, social or technological consequences. The performance co-opts Kafka's Metamorphosis to tell the story of my post-traumatic experience after a spinal cord injury which left me in a wheelchair.Three characters, each struggling with their own metamorphosis, intertwine into a performance based on movement. as one doctor oversees them.

Director\performer Iddo Gruengard returns with a new performance which plays with classic texts.  His past projects declared new bold perspective on society today.  With a background as an architect, Iddo likes to explore space and performance while immersing the audience.

His last performance in Camden Fringe Festival examined Harold Pinter and intimacy.

"...a dangerous foray into a relationship loaded with subtext, the fuse having been lit long before the audience walks into the space." *****

VIEWS FROM THE GODS

“As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect. His numerous legs, which were pitifully thin compared to the rest of his bulk, waved helplessly before him..”
